Kiikunlähde Spring, Hollola

Kiikunlähde is an enchanting spring surrounded by spruce trees that lies on the northern fringe of First Salpausselkä in Hollola. The water in the large spring basin is extremely clear and demonstrates an unusual turquoise colour. The temperature of the water discharging from the bed of the spring basin is always at five degrees Celsius – thus the basin remains unfrozen all through the year, even during the coldest winter months. The site is part of Kukonkoivu-Hatsina groundwater recharge area, which is among the three largest aquifers of Finland, measured by water yield as well as area.
